1. The call-out fee
There's a fee for a plumber to come to your home, assess the problem and give you a price. We tell you the amount on the phone before we book, so it's never a surprise. If an entry offer is running (for example a basement check), we'll tell you how it counts toward the job.
2. A flat price per job, before we start
Once we know what's wrong, you get one price for the job: parts, labour and clean-up included, plus any permit and restoration. It isn't an hourly rate, so the price doesn't change if the job takes longer than expected. You approve it before we start.
3. Why a quick job can cost more than you'd expect
Some customers are surprised when a job that takes 30 minutes costs more than they imagined. A flat price covers the truck and stock we carry, the travel, the licensed plumber, the warranty, and the risk that a "quick" job turns into a long one. You know the price before you say yes, and you're free to say no.
4. Big jobs: what can change, and how
For jobs under floors or in the ground, we can't see everything until it's open. Before we start, we'll tell you what might change, such as a second broken section or rock where we expected soil, and how it would be priced. Nothing extra happens without your written OK.
5. After hours and weekends
Work outside office hours costs more, and we'll tell you before booking.
6. Rebates and financing
For eligible homes, the City of Ottawa rebates backwater valves (up to $1,000), sump pumps with battery backup (up to $1,500, or $3,000 with a new pit) and lead water service replacement (up to $1,000 for the private side). Under the City's full lead pipe program, the homeowner's share can be spread over five or ten years on the property tax bill. We'll help you through the steps.
